Walk Cycle

I have sat down, and attempted on 3DsMax my own walk cycle, where as this wasn't easy to get fluid and nice, the basics of the cycle i found, was very easy, i haven't got the movement fluid yet, but for a first try i am very happy with it. However it did seems to come out more as a run cycle?

So it appears I have began to run before i can walk??? ...

after 2 1/2 hours of rendering under light tracer its done =], let me know what you guys think.

  1. Sounds awesome craig!
Have you got any renders of that you can post up?
Also me and harry have been taking a look at some rigging tutorials you might want to take a look at?

  2. there you go matey, its nothing special, just a stick man, feel the movement could be a bit more fluid, but we all need to start somewhere.

I also think that if the arms had less movement and weren't as frantic, it may look like a walk? At the moment it looks like a slow run?

  3. It looks really good, it does appear to slow down as the legs put their foot down. But you defonatly need to start looking into rigging up models now, because I think that this is going to be the next step for you in animation.

  4. I feel i need to get the basics down and dusted before making something more organic move with rigging to be honest with you, im going to keep on with this for a bit longer till i know what needs to go where and when before progressing

  5. The main problem to this is that the spine is very solid and does not move left or right making it feel more slow

  6. I may have another go very soon, and segment the body more,, moving the spine accordingly as well, or make it into a doll/ figure instead of a stick man, i'm very happy for my first try though

  7. This is a really promising first stab. b4 you amend the rig or the IK you might want to do a little research on balance, centre of mass, how bodies shift weight etc.

also, can you post up all your research and also the written pieces you have so far so that all your classmates can comment?
